I love a good homemade beauty recipe. Especially when the ingredients are simple! This bath salt has a lovely scent that is so refreshing for a bath time soak. The natural oils in the orange help with moisturizing, while the green tea contains additional antioxidant properties (also found in oranges!) and benefits for tired skin. Green tea is also said to tighten skin and give you an incredible glow. Just scoop a few spoonfuls of this mixture into your bath and relax! Ready to make your own?
All you need is:
- An orange
- Epsom salt
- Green tea packets
1. Start by grabbing an orange. Squeeze the juice out into a bowl and toss the remaining bits.
2. Add the juice to 1 cup of Epsom salt. If your container has a lid, shake it up well. If not just stir until all of the salt is coated. If it’s too “juicy”, add more salt. Epsom salt also has tons of benefits, like soothing aches, relaxing the nervous system, and releasing toxins from the body.
3. Add in one or two packets of green tea. I literally cut open tea bags and emptied the contents into the mixture. Stir it up really well.
4. By now you should be smelling a lovely fresh scent. It’s almost minty. Pour the salts into a jar for storage. The salts will dry after a little while.
Keep the jar in a cool place (like your fridge!) and enjoy it whenever you feel the need to refresh! This mixture makes a wonderful gift as well. Get creative and dress up your jar with some natural twine and a label for a quick and inexpensive present!
Note: the salt in the bottom of the jar is darker because I tried to add some green food colouring for appearance’s sake… it was a mess. Don’t do that! It comes off in the water and we don’t want to emerge from the bath looking like aliens, do we?
