If you’re a home decor and renovation junkie like I am (and a lover of all things vintage!), you’ve probably daydreamed about updating a 60s or 70s camper and remodeling the interior. Of course, you can’t get much more of a classic, quintessential retro camper than an old Airstream trailer, with its signature aluminum exterior and cylinder interior.
While gutting and rebuilding an Airstream is hard work, these beginners did a brilliant job designing and putting their own spin on the Airstream. For the wanderers at heart, their remodeled trailer works as a tiny home built for their specific needs while traversing the country full time. For the part-time traveler it can also double as a temporary living vehicle or guest quarters when at home.
On the unconventional side, some use their trailers for businesses like rental properties or boutiques. Keep scrolling to see these gorgeous Airstreams that will get your dreams of remodeling a vintage camper rolling.
Luna the Airstream

An adventure-seeking family built a tiny home in this airstream (affectionately named Luna) to make home truly wherever the heart is. The colorful decor with a native, Southwest feel is perfect for traversing the States. This camper also features a must-see treehouse loft bed for little ones.
Airstream by the Sea

Minimalist and airy decor creates a beach vacation mood, perfectly fitting for a rental property near the beach in Costa Rica. For those who are inspired by the idea of owning rental properties, the pictures are worth scrolling through to see their whole process!
Bold and Colorful Airstream Safari Renovation

This Airstream Safari was the couple’s second camper renovation, so they are experienced in what works (and what doesn’t) for small space living. Instead of a cramped hallway situation to fit a closet, they focused on minimalism and DIYed a large cubby dresser with baskets. What a great idea!
Airstream Argosy with Original Features

The owners of this vintage Airstream Argosy renovation were able to keep some original features, including the kitchenette, and original 70s wallpaper in the bathroom. With fresh fixtures, a fresh coat of paint, and some plants, it looks brand new.
Modern Glam Airstream Renovation

This glam/farmhouse camper looks polished and perfect with warm blue cabinets and dinette, which gives the high-end, finished effect of board-and-batten. It’s also styled to perfection with oversized pink pillows, a sheepskin blanket, and gold sconces. Sometimes it’s the little things that count the most!
Ladybird the Airstream

The color scheme in this airstream is warm and inviting. What might be a boring beige is brought to life with hints of pink, rustic orange, and gold. You can DIY a butcher block countertop like this to fit a small area in your own Airstream or RV!
Pattern Designer’s Airstream Cottage

This cottage-themed camper wasn’t a full renovation–the owner bought an Airstream that was in good shape and that had recently updated utilities, and was able to add her own style with wallpaper and cushions. It’s an accessible plan for those of us who aren’t very handy with the nitty gritty aspects of a renovation, but love the idea of designing a vintage airstream nonetheless.
Luxurious Parisian Chic Airstream

This Parisian chic-inspired renovation by AR Design Airstreams takes the thought of glamping to new levels. It would be jaw-dropping in any space, let alone on wheels. The marble-adorned bathroom even features a soaking tub so it really feels like a spa, but my favorite part is the marigold velvet couch with soft pastel pillows!
Studio McGee Airstream

The husband-and-wife team behind the famous design firm and Netflix show teamed up with a camper restoration company to design this camper trailer. Shea’s signature fresh, minimalist aesthetic carries throughout the trailer…the finishing touch is a black and white striped awning which creates a natural outdoor hangout space.
Kitschy and Colorful Airstream

A touch of kitsch and color is fitting for a retro trailer renovation! Bold oranges, blues, and pinks are brought together by curtains featuring all the colors so they don’t feel too cluttered. The kitschy floor tiles look like something straight from the 70s, and the Smeg fridge is the finishing touch that makes it feel really authentic.
Simple Modern Airstream Overlander

This 26’ Airstream Overlander was completely gutted and redesigned from the ground up and transformed into a modern caravan. With new insulation, interior walls, stainless steel appliances and utilities, she was ready to go. The design features lots of white to make the small space feel clean, bright and roomy, but the most unique part is the new copper tile in the bathroom.
Joshua Tree Airstream Boutique

When dreaming about your Airstream renovation, remember you’re not limited to using your camper for the traditional purpose. This renovated Airstream is used as a mobile boutique in Joshua Tree with a well-curated Western desert aesthetic.
Boho Airstream Argosy Tiny Home

This colorful Argosy was a Craigslist find! It wasn’t an easy task, but the owners dedicated two years to gutting it and rebuilding the interior and adding sleeping space for a family. Next, they added lots of color, to match the exterior’s bright orange paint job. It’s fittingly reminiscent of a 60s Volkswagen van.
Bungalow Style Bambi

The Airstream Bambi is the one of the smallest Airstream campers, but it houses big personality. This one features signature Airstream silver on the interior walls of the trailer as well as the outside, paired with lots of blue for a modern boho-bungalow blend.
Airstream Overlander Remodel

This cozy, hygge daybed setup in the front of a camper is so enviable as a spot to drink a cup of coffee, work on creative projects, or take a nap. The total gutting and remodel was completed with about $20,000 in materials by an experienced husband and wife duo.
Lilo the 1974 Argosy

The best part of this 1974 Airstream Argosy is the turquoise exterior. The inside features double bunk beds for sleeping a family, and gold and pink accents with a Parisian chic theme. It also features extra storage below the bunk beds and daybed!
The Cheerstream

Two friends undertook the process of renovating this 1980 Airstream (affectionately known as the Cheerstream). The finished product is exactly how it sounds–full of bright, cheery colors and dopamine-inducing decor.
Southwest Themed Decor

This renovated camper and rental property is filled with loads of gorgeous eclectic Southwestern and native-inspired textiles and handmade items. The kitchen is also beautiful, with a retro minifridge and turquoise tiles.
Remodeled California Airstream

The designers behind this California Airstream turned the tragedy of a wildfire into the chance to fulfill their dream to remodel an Airstream. Now, this fresh and minimalist designed space functions as a guest quarters when not being used for travel.
Seventies Inspired

The lovely seventies-inspired Spoonflower wallpaper might be the first thing to catch your eye in this 1978 Airstream, but the green kitchen cabinets with cane webbing inserts are the pièce de résistance.
