How To Be Happier

What is the trick to being happy? I’ll share it with you, but you have to promise to try it! Here it goes: live with the intention of being happy. That’s it! How can you do just that? Here are a few ways to become a happier person:

Take time for yourself

I really believe that the secret to happiness is making sure to enjoy time by yourself. Taking some extra time each day to reflect and relax is an important part of feeling content.

Let the problems and worries subside and concentrate on yourself for at least a little while every single day.

Listen to your gut

A lot of the time we will do things because we think we have to or to please somebody else, even when we really feel we shouldn’t.

Learn to pay attention to your instincts and stop worrying so much about letting others down. On the other hand, if we feel we really should do something and someone or something is stopping us, it’s important to pay attention to your gut as well. Missed opportunities only leave us with feelings of regret.

Eliminate negative people from your life

Negative people serve no other purpose than to bring you down with their own woes. If you’ve ever felt like a person tends to put you in a worse mood than before you interacted with them, that’s probably a sign that they are affecting your happiness.  

If you can, remove negative people from your life and focus on relationships that brighten your spirits rather than dull them. If removing them isn’t an option, learn to brush off any negative vibes, turn them into positives, and carry on with your gorgeous self!

Take control and change something

If you’re not happy in a situation (be it work, relationships, or something else), change it! Remember that you are in control of your own life and you don’t have to stick around to please other people.

It sounds so simple but can often be one of the toughest things to do. Remember to listen to your gut and you’ll know what you need to do!

Lighten your load

Often times we think we have to do everything ourselves. Taking on too much can make us more miserable than we’d like, so learn to start passing duties or tasks off to other people. They might surprise you!

Do something nice for yourself every day

Yes, you are important too! Try to take a moment each day to do something nice for yourself or your well-being. Treat yourself to a yummy dessert, paint your nails, or put a little extra effort into your hairdo, take a longer shower. Little things go a long way!

Drop the smartphone and get outside

Being with nature is refreshing and calming. Try to put away your worries and just be. Go for a solo walk or a bike ride as a part of your daily routine. There is always time to make time ;)!

Catch up with friends

If you live a busy life, it can be hard to make time for relationships. Remember to check in with your friends or family and chat about whatever comes to mind.

Having good conversations and laughing with your BFFs can turn your mood right around.
